The Power Peplum

IMG_2834 edited
If there’s and awkward conversation waiting to start, chances are I’m the guest of honour.

Which is why, I like sometimes sipping on a chai by myself. With often a magazine or seldom a book for company. It’s the best feeling in the world when you feel surrounded by no one.

It’s also the best conversation you can have, when talking to oneself.
I’ve been caught in the act a few times and had people believe I’m a bit mad. Ok, a lot mad but it’s a quirk and I like being that way. I’m the only person I take advice from and the only person I don’t take offence to abusing me. I also don’t have to share my chai with anyone or laugh politely at a terrible sense of humour. There are no rules on how many times you can zone out or how many times you repeated the same story.
In a nutshell, I feel powerful when I don’t feel the need to be surrounded by people. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it makes me feel like I have the ability and leeway to act in a certain way without turning heads.

Which brings me to the outfit. It’s a peplum blazer with power shoulders. Power shoulders are nothing but exaggerated shoulders that are created by padding on the inner seams. The blazer is a peplum silhouette which is gathered at the waist to adds femininity and a fuller hip. One of the most feminine picks, I paired this with a polka printed top in the same shade and a deep red pair of linen trousers. I know linens are not exactly winter wear but I live in Bangalore. It’s not quite the same as Delhi or North Indian temperatures.
